Project I & III
Two videos out of a series of three
A car is a status symbol with universal recognition. It is a private property with public prestige, which can be of value for people because it expresses wealth and a way of life. ‘Project I & III’ shows the execution or the destruction of a car in three different ways. One car is thrown at with stones, the second brought to explosion and the third set to fire. With these actions, the everyday is made into art. Although the actions itself are neutral, the work deals with standards in creating art, themes such as terrorism and fear, civilization versus barbarism and the aesthetics versus the ethical.
The origin of the cars was not clear, but the cars stood all in public space during the shooting of the videos.
