‘One step’ is an interactive installation wherein the participant can take a step over a white cube. With a black reflecting bottom, the participant experiences a larger depth than there actually is when he or she looks down. With two narrow stairs without banisters, one can reach the top of the cube. The second last step is unequal to the other steps, to interrupt the rhythm. With this work I want to show how easy it is to withdraw from intention as participant, because he or she starts to feel more insecure by every step taken.
